I did not stay at hostel or use any service, still do i have to pay?

I am in a government engineering college in Kolkata, West Bengal. I had allergies and asthma, so I didn’t stay in my hostel during the 8th semester. Now, in March, three months have passed. Although my previous dues are clear, the administration is asking me to pay mess fees for the 8th semester as well. I know it’s my fault for not informing them that I wouldn’t be staying. But is there any way I can avoid paying that hefty amount since I didn’t use the service or eat the food?

Write to the college explaining your health condition and lack of hostel usage. Request a fee waiver citing medical reasons. If denied, file a legal notice or approach the State Consumer Forum or RTI to challenge the unjust fee. Legal consultation can help strengthen your case.
