What are my rights regarding security deposit and eviction without agreement?

What happens when there is no rental agreement, but the owner wants us to stay? Due to financial problems, we want to leave the house after living there for 7 months. We informed him 2 months and 1 month in advance that we would be leaving. I want my security deposit back. The owner said he would not refund the money before 11 months and threatened to throw our belongings on the road if rent is not paid.

Sir, since there’s no formal rental agreement, the landlord must still follow local rent laws. You’re entitled to get your security deposit back, unless there’s damage. The landlord’s threat to throw your belongings is illegal. You can send a letter asking for your deposit and, if necessary, file a complaint for harassment.
