What are the legal rules for placing items outside flats?
Hi, I own a flat and have placed a shoe rack outside my main door. I’ve also kept plants on the four steps leading to my door. Is this an issue? Am I not allowed to keep decorative items outside my gate?

Legally, common areas like staircases belong to the housing society. If other residents object or it blocks passage, the society can ask you to remove them.
