Will I inherit property bought using willed fixed deposit?

My mother has ₹50 lakhs in fixed deposits and has made a will in my favor. We are planning to buy a residential property in her name using most of that amount, and I will contribute the rest. The property will be registered in her name. I also have two siblings. Will I be the rightful heir to this property after her death, since the money used is already willed to me, or does she need to make a new will clearly mentioning this property?

No, the new property must be specifically mentioned in a new or updated will. Even if the money is already willed to you, the property should be clearly included to avoid disputes with siblings later. It’s best to have your mother create a fresh will mentioning the house details. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
