What can I do if ex cheated me financially?

I was in a relationship with a colleague since 2023 and trusted her deeply. Over time, she convinced me to take multiple loans totaling ₹4.5 lakh, citing family emergencies and making false promises of repayment. Despite repeated delays, emotional manipulation, and excuses, she misused the money—even after receiving ₹20 lakh from her father's retirement funds. Eventually, she cut off all communication. I am now emotionally broken, financially burdened, and paying EMIs alone. I cannot share this with my family due to fear of distress. I am seeking urgent guidance to manage this crisis.

If you were induced to make a loan on behalf of you ex, on the basis on false promises, you can file a police complaint under for cheating under Section 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. If you have enough proof to show that the money so lend was misused, include the provision of section 316 which addresses criminal breach of trust.

You can file a police complaint for cheating and misuse of funds under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. Gather all chats, bank records, and loan proof. A lawyer can also help you send a legal notice and file a recovery case. You may also ask your bank to restructure your loan EMIs to ease the burden.
