What should I do if my account has a hold?

Sir, I run an online center. A customer came and asked me to provide a scanner, as he needed to deposit some amount. I gave him the scanner, and he deposited the amount. However, after that, an amount equivalent to the deposit was put on hold in my account. What should I do now? Please help me.

If you notice a hold on your account, it is best to check with your bank right away as to why that may be. Give them the details about the concerned customer to include the deposit made through your scanner. You may have put up the hold due to suspicion of fraud or unusual activity. Gather evidence like CCTV images, transaction records, or customer information to support your argument. File a written complaint with the bank and request a redress. If the bank does not resolve the issue in a given time, escalate the same to the Banking Ombudsman. Such future instances can be avoided by confirming the customer's intention before allowing them to conduct such transactions.
