Will unpaid credit card dues affect my travel to India?
I have some credit card EMI dues since 2022, for which the unpaid amount is now approximately ₹33,000. I received calls and a notice. I asked for a negotiation to make a minimum payment, but the bank and recovery agent did not agree. I am currently outside India. If I travel to India, is there any chance immigration authorities will stop me while entering India or while returning abroad?
Unpaid credit card EMIs are civil matters. Normally, immigration will not stop you for pending dues alone. Problems arise only if the bank obtains a court order or warrant. Best option is to settle or negotiate payment from abroad, keep all records, and ensure no pending court notices exist before traveling.
