How to correct father’s name in board marksheets legally?

My father’s name is written incorrectly on my 10th and 12th mark sheets (one extra letter). It is correct in all other documents. My applications for government exams and passport are getting rejected. What should I do to correct this?

You need to apply for correction with the board (CBSE/State Board) by submitting an affidavit, ID proof, and your father’s correct documents. If they refuse, you can file a writ petition in High Court for direction to correct the records. It’s a common issue and can be legally resolved.
