I have been summoned by court what should I do now?

I’ve been summoned as a witness for something that happened to the victim years ago. I wasn’t actually there to witness the event, the victim just told me about it at the time. However, now that I’ve been summoned, I honestly don’t remember anything. I never gave a statement back then either, and I’m worried they’ll think I’m lying when in reality, I just don’t remember. What should I do?

If you have been summoned but genuinely don’t remember, just be honest. It’s okay to say you don’t recall, especially since you’re not a direct witness. What you know is hearsay, something the victim told you. Courts understand memory fades. Avoid guessing or assuming anything you’re not sure about.
