How to take legal action against extortion by landlord?

While I was waiting for a taxi outside my housing society, my former landlady arrived with five men. They forcibly took my phone and bag and demanded ₹25,000 as "painting charges." I told them that nothing like this was agreed upon in the rent agreement, but they threatened and abused me. Out of fear, I transferred ₹25,000 via UPI. What legal action can I take?

You can file a police complaint for extortion, criminal intimidation, and theft. Keep proof of UPI payments, chat messages, and the rent agreement. File an FIR at your local police station and mention specific threats and details of the incident. You may also send a legal notice to recover your money.
