What action can I take regarding a pending case?

A case was registered against me under Section 294 and 504 of the IPC on 01.08.21. The police submitted the final report before the court on 01.01.22, but they neither arrested me nor took any statements from me. Till now, I have no information about the case. Approximately 4 years have passed since the registration of the case.

You can file an application before the court to check the status of the case and whether it is still pending. Since the police submitted the final report in 2022 and no action has been taken against you, the case may be inactive or closed. You can also approach the High Court under Section 482 CrPC to quash the case due to delay and lack of prosecution. Consulting a lawyer will help you take the best legal action to clear your record.

Sir, you can file a Right to Information (RTI) request to inquire about the case status and approach the court through a petition for quashing if no progress is made. It is advised to consult an expert lawyer who will assist you in seeking anticipatory bail if you are concerned about arrest. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
