What legal action can be taken against online fraud?

Hello, I need legal advice regarding an online financial fraud that happened to me. I was contacted through Telegram by someone claiming to be part of a crypto trading platform. They built trust and asked me to make two UPI payments — ₹15,111 and ₹49,111 — promising returns. After I sent the money, they stopped responding and later demanded more fees. I realized it was a scam. I have already filed a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Portal (I have the acknowledgment number), and I was advised to visit my local police station, but I am afraid my family will find out since it’s a small town, and the officers may know them. That’s why I need help with filing an FIR or taking the next legal steps, possibly in Bangalore or remotely. I have all transaction details, screenshots, and evidence. Can you please guide me on how to proceed safely and confidentially?

You should report the fraud to the police and file an FIR and can do this remotely in Bangalore if you are uncomfortable visiting your local station. Ensure you have all transaction details and evidence, such as screenshots, to support your case. You can also consult an expert cybercrime lawyer who will guide you through the process.
