Dear Client, If your intention is to marry directly under the Special Marriage Act, then the 30-day residency requirement is compulsory and cannot be waived in Kerala or any other state; however, if you wish to avoid the waiting period, the alternative is to marry under your personal/religious law (Hindu, Christian, Muslim, etc.), which allows immediate solemnization and subsequent registration with the marriage registrar without the residency condition so the practical way around the 30-day wait is to choose a personal-law ceremony rather than an SMA court marriage. I hope this answer helps, for any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank You

Under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, a 30-day public notice is mandatory in the district where either party has lived for at least 30 days. There is no legal way to skip this period. To marry in Kerala, you or your partner must reside there for 30 days, submit the notice, and wait. A lawyer can guide on documentation and process.
