How to marry foreign partner in India?
My fiancée is British but has been residing in Spain for the past 8 years. The British government does not issue residence cards or No Objection Certificates (NOCs). She has a UK birth certificate, UK passport, and a Spanish residence card. How can we complete all the necessary documentation for marriage in India?
You can marry in India under the Special Marriage Act. For an NRI marriage in India, required documents include passports (with visa/OCI), birth and address proof (India and abroad), passport-size photos, and a notarized marital status affidavit. If divorced/widowed, a divorce decree or death certificate is needed. Three witnesses with ID proof and 30-day local residence proof are mandatory. Foreign birth or address documents must be apostilled or attested by the Indian Embassy/Consulate. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
