Dear client, When you are denied by the two families, and they are refusing on the basis that you are a mother of two children, do remember that family refusal on its own cannot prevent the legal marriage when both adults are marrying by free consent. You may marry under Special marriage act 1954(or under personal law as far as it is legally applicable) provided that both the parties are eligible. In case there is pressure or even threats and force, you can request the police protection and petition the High Court to ensure you are safe. If you have any query please feel free to contact us.

Dear Client, The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 allows you to file a legal complaint when someone denies you entry or when they harass you because you are a mother of two children. You may request relief from the Magistrate through Section 12 of the law which allows courts to issue protection orders according to Section 18 and residence orders according to Section 19 and monetary relief according to Section 20. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 Section 144 allows you to request maintenance for yourself and your children. Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 defines any threats or intimidation as offenses which you can report to the police.

If both families are refusing to accept you because you are a mother of two children, please remember that family refusal alone does not stop a legal marriage if both adults are marrying by free consent. Under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, or under personal law if applicable, you can still marry if both parties are legally eligible. If there is pressure, threats, or force, you can seek police protection and file a petition before the High Court for safety. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
