What action can I take against the company for misconduct?

I am a college student appearing for placements. An MNC confirmed my selection, but after 12–13 hours they changed my status to “waitlisted,” saying it was a miscommunication. This has caused me mental distress. What action can I take against the company?

Dear client, as per your query, this situation amounts to clear the professional misconduct, and you have the legal remedies available in India, especially if there is written proof of the confirmation followed by its revocation. Once an offer is confirmed, accepted, and also unconditional, it attains the status of a legally binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. In case of further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you.

If the company confirmed your job offer and suddenly changed your status to "waitlisted", you can send a written complaint to the HR department demanding clarity. If you suffered loss or mental harassment, you may also file a complaint with the labour commissioner or seek damages through a civil claim. Keep all emails, screenshots, and communication as evidence. For further legal assistance contact on our helpline number.
