Can temple receipt be used to register marriage legally?

Is a marriage performed in a temple valid with only a receipt? Can that receipt be used to register the marriage at the registrar’s office or for court marriage?

A temple marriage receipt alone is not valid proof unless it’s supported by marriage photos, priest certificate, and witness affidavits. You cannot register a marriage with just a receipt. For legal recognition, either get it registered under the Hindu Marriage Act or do a court marriage under the Special Marriage Act. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
