Both parties and 3 witnesses must be present. - No ceremony is required, parties have to state/say prescribed form of words in presence of MO and witnesses. - This certificate provided will be a conclusive proof of marriage and valid for all legal purposes. No further will be registration required.
- Neither party has a living spouse; both are of sound mind and capable of consent; male ≥21 years, female ≥18 years; not within degrees of prohibited relationship. - Both parties fill and submit ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ (as per Schedule II of SMA) to Marriage Officer (MO) in jurisdiction/area where either has resided ≥ 30 days immediately before notice. - Mandatory 30-day period from notice publication and marriage will be solemnized only after this period if no objection is received.
