What can we do if family is against our interfaith marriage?

Sir, with due respect, I am Balram Singh from Punjab. I want to marry a Muslim girl named Mehak from Haryana. We don’t want to change our religion. I am 19 years old, and she is 20. However, her family is not ready for the marriage and is planning to marry her to her cousin. Can we run away abroad for a year and marry after one year?

You can marry legally under the Special Marriage Act, regardless of religious background. If your family opposes, you may choose to marry without their consent, but ensure proper legal documentation and registration. If you are planning to leave for abroad, check legal requirements in that country for your marriage. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
