Can I become sole member and owner of the flat?

I am a Hindu, and my in-laws are also Hindus from Maharashtra. My father-in-law became a member of a housing cooperative in 1980 along with my wife. The society share certificate lists my father-in-law's name first, and my wife’s name second. The housing cooperative purchased land and constructed buildings for its members. In 2013, my wife and I occupied the flat, and we have been living there since. My father-in-law passed away in 2020 without leaving a will. After his death, my wife applied to the society and became the sole member. My brothers-in-law and mother-in-law never objected to her becoming the sole member. In 2022, my wife passed away without leaving a will. Now, I am in possession of the flat and a member of the society. However, my in-laws are privately disputing this matter. Can I become the sole member of the society and own and possess the flat without my brothers-in-law or mother-in-law as members to co-own the flat? Can my major son become the sole member of the society and own the flat?

Sir, in both cases, it is advised to consult an expert lawyer specializing in property or cooperative society law to ensure the proper legal process is followed, including obtaining necessary documents like succession certificates and completing any required formalities for transferring membership.
