Can I deny the flat to anyone in case of dispute?

I purchased a flat in 2009 in joint names, mine and my wife’s. We have two children, a son and a daughter, both of whom are adults. There is a dispute between my wife and me, and I don’t want to give the flat to anyone. Can I do that?

If the flat is jointly owned by you and your wife, both of you have equal rights over it. However, in case of a dispute, you cannot unilaterally deny the flat to your wife or children. You may consider seeking legal advice and filing for a partition or settlement through mutual agreement or court proceedings. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
