How is ancestral property divided?
I had asked this question a few days ago and received your reply stating that land inherited from a great-grandfather and registered in the grandfather’s name is considered ancestral property. I now have a doubt: Is this property distributed based on the number of grandsons of my great-grandfather, or is it divided equally among my grandfather’s wives?
The property is shared by all legal heirs as per succession laws, not based on the number of grandsons or equally among wives. Each legal heir (your father and others in the male lineage) gets a rightful share. It is advised to consult an expert property lawyer who will assist you with the best course of action.
