Can pregnant woman deny medical reports and demand work-from-home?

I have been employed with an Indian MNC for nine years and am currently 26 weeks pregnant. Due to complications, my doctor has advised complete bed rest. I requested a work-from-home option, which is allowed under company policy after discussion with the manager. Previously, in my first trimester during the COVID phase, HR demanded all pregnancy-related reports and still made me work from the office three days a week. I caught COVID then. Now, I’ve submitted a medical certificate stating that travel could risk the pregnancy, but HR is again asking for blood and scan reports. My job can easily be done from home. Should I submit these reports, or is there another way to handle this?

You are entitled to maternity benefits and protection under Indian labor law. Submit your doctor’s certificate, you are not legally required to give blood or scan reports unless medically necessary. Write to HR and escalate to senior management or labor commissioner if denied. Consult an employment lawyer if needed. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
