How to recover money from relative when bank cheque won’t clear?
I gave money to my relative, and they gave me a Syndicate Bank NRE cheque in return. However, the bank has now merged with Canara Bank, and I cannot clear the cheque. How can I legally recover my money? What is the court procedure for this? Please guide.

If the cheque cannot be cleared due to bank merger, send a legal notice to your relative demanding payment through another mode. If they do not respond, you can file a civil suit for money recovery or cheating complaint. Keep a copy of the cheque and any communication as evidence.
