Promissory note unpaid since 2007—what legal action possible?
In 2007, my father gave ₹25,000 to a man in our village. We have a signed promissory note, but he is refusing to return the money. What legal action can we take?

You can file a civil suit for recovery based on the promissory note, but limitation is important. Generally, cases must be filed within 3 years. However, if there's any acknowledgment of debt after 2007, that can extend the time. Consult a civil lawyer with the document to check your chances.
