Is mentioning spouse’s name mandatory when renewing Indian passport abroad?

Hi, I’m an Indian man married to a non-Indian Christian in the Middle East. Our marriage isn’t registered in India. For my passport renewal, is it mandatory to mention my marital status as married and provide spouse details, or can I leave it as single?

You should honestly declare your marital status as married when renewing your passport. Even if your marriage isn’t registered in India, the government expects accurate information. You don’t have to mention your spouse’s name if you prefer privacy, but marking yourself as single could lead to legal complications.
