Can we adopt an 18-year-old girl ?
My date of birth is 31st December 1972, and my husband's name is X, with his date of birth being 19th November 1970. We are genuinely looking for an orphan girl for adoption through any private adoption agencies or whichever procedure is the quickest for us to adopt a girl. We are interested in adopting a girl aged 17 or 18 years, who has no biological parents or whose situation qualifies for adoption. I read in the CARA guidelines that the combined age of the adoptive wife and husband must be 110 years to adopt a girl under 18 years. According to the HAMA Act, our combined age is currently 106 years. Given this, can we adopt an 18-year-old girl, considering the CARA rule that allows a couple with a combined age of 110 years to adopt a girl under 18?
Sir, under the CARA guidelines you are not eligible to adopt a girl under 18 due to the age criteria, but you may explore other options as guardianship. It is advised to consult an expert lawyer who will assist you with the bet course of action. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
