How can I reduce maintenance?

I am a 30-year-old man, married for the past 6 months. My wife, 27, is a graduate with past work experience but is currently unemployed. We are facing issues in our marriage and may pursue litigation soon. I am a government employee earning a gross salary of around ₹60,000. If I start contributing ₹30,000 to my GPF, will it help reduce the maintenance amount under Section 125? What steps can I take to reduce interim and future maintenance or alimony? Your advice is highly appreciated.

Contributing more to GPF will not reduce your liability, as courts consider your gross income. To lower maintenance, prove your wife can earn, show financial responsibilities (like dependents or loans), and keep records of all expenses. Start collecting evidence and it is advised to consult an expert family lawyer for proper defense. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
