Can I cancel a notary contract if builder absconds?
In 2019, we made a notary contract with a builder. However, he later fled without completing the construction work or giving possession to us and the other buyers. As a landowner, do I have the legal right to cancel that notary agreement?

As the landowner, you can legally cancel the notary agreement by sending a legal notice and filing a case in civil court. You can also file a cheating case under section 318 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. If the project falls under RERA, file a complaint there too. A property lawyer can guide you step by step.
