Can I get OBC NCL certificate for my child?

I am planning to apply for an OBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate for my child. I work in the IT sector in a private company, and my annual salary is above ₹8 lakhs. However, our other income is below ₹8 lakhs. As per the information on the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) website and the DOPT Office Memorandum, for private-sector employees, only income from other sources should be considered, salary income is not counted. My wife is a homemaker. Based on this, can I apply for and obtain the OBC NCL certificate for my child?

Yes, you can apply for the OBC NCL certificate for your child. As per government guidelines, for private-sector employees, only income from sources other than salary (like property, business, or investments) is considered. Since your non-salary income is below ₹8 lakhs and your wife is a homemaker, your child should qualify for the certificate. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
