No, a name cannot be removed from the FIR after registration. However, the police can file a closure report if the investigation finds no evidence against the person, or the High Court can quash the FIR under Section 482 CrPC if the case is frivolous or settled. A 164 CrPC statement is only evidence and does not automatically lead to removal from the FIR.

After the Statement is given , it is very difficult and complex process to remove the name and it is removed on two basis first one is due to lack of evidences and second is through the court order .

Sir, after an FIR and 164 statements, the accused's name can be removed if the investigation proves them innocent or if the complainant retracts their statement. The police can file a closure report or drop charges. It is advised to consult an expert lawyer who will assist you with the best course of action.
