How can we prevent blackmail without disclosing our identities?
My girlfriend’s ex is suspicious, and we believe he may have private photos or videos of her. We are afraid that he might try to blackmail her in the future. We don’t have proof that he has these photos or videos, but his intentions seem suspicious. What actions should we take to prevent him from doing anything or to make him delete those videos without disclosing our names?
On the basis of suspicion you cannot complaint against a person so i will suggest you to first of all try to get information regarding the photos and videos that whether he has those photos and videos or not and if you are assured that he has her photos and videos then ask him to delete those videos and photos and if he use to threaten her then you can file a complaint under section 67A of IT ACT,2000
Sir, to protect your girlfriend, document any suspicious behavior and communication from her ex. Consider sending a legal notice warning him against blackmail or sharing private content. File a cybercrime complaint if you suspect he has sensitive material. Ensure her online privacy by updating passwords and settings. Gather evidence if any blackmail attempts occur.
