How to respond to a court notice sent incorrectly?
My mother-in-law left for the USA from India to take care of my wife. The court summons came to her residence in India, but she was not there as she had already left. The petitioner, through their advocate, somehow got my address (which is incorrect) and sent a notice to the USA address. How can I prove that the address is wrong, and how should I respond to it? My mother-in-law will be coming back in a couple of months.
You can show proof like flight tickets or passport stamps to confirm your mother-in-law left before the summons came. Respond to the court saying the notice was sent to the wrong person and address. The actual party (your mother-in-law) will return soon and can respond properly then. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
