What can I do if police demanded illegal money?

I crossed the Hooghly Bridge in a commercial vehicle at 3:00 AM. The police stopped me and demanded ₹8,000 illegally, stating that if I refused, I would have to go to court and be fined ₹25,000.

You can file a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) West Bengal or report it online to the Central Vigilance Commission. If you have any proof (receipt, UPI payment, video), keep it safe. The police cannot demand cash without a receipt, this is illegal and can be challenged. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
