What legal action can be taken against cheating?

Sir, I was in a relationship with a Muslim man for 2 years. Towards the end, he promised me that he would marry me and never asked me to change my religion, as I am a Hindu girl. We had a physical relationship, and by mistake, I became pregnant at that time. He manipulated me into aborting the baby for his family’s reputation and said that we would get married next year as his financial condition was not good. He also took ₹3 lakh from me as a loan for his business. But in September 2023, he started avoiding me, became rude, and ignored me. His parents knew about our relationship and told me that he was under stress and to give him some space, so I did. Later, in 2024, I found out that he had already married a Muslim girl. Now he is denying to return my money. It has been 1 year since this happened. What should I do now? Can I file a case against him for cheating and looting my money? Will this be considered a criminal offense? Please answer and help me, sir.

You can file a police complaint against him for cheating under Section 318  of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. For the ₹3 lakh loan he took and did not return, you can also approach a civil court to recover your money. It’s important to consult a good lawyer who can guide you through both criminal and civil legal options to protect your rights. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
