What documents are needed to avoid challan if car permanent number is delayed?

I purchased a new car. I heard there is a rule that after one month, a vehicle cannot be driven on a temporary number. However, my dealership is not providing the permanent number and claims they are also not receiving it. If I get stopped by the police, what can I do since it’s not my fault? What additional documents can I ask from the dealership to avoid a challan?

You can ask the dealership for a written confirmation (on their letterhead) explaining the delay in providing the permanent number, along with payment receipts, temporary registration documents, and delivery note. For further legal assistance, you can contact us on our helpline number.
