What legal action can be taken against online payment fraud?
I paid online for a dress, but after hearing that the shipping charges were over ₹200, we canceled the order and requested a refund. Now, the seller has sent me another QR code and is asking me to pay an additional ₹899.
Dear Client, since you have already cancelled the order, the seller has no right to ask for extra payment from you. E-commerce sellers are required to diligently display all refund and cancellation policies on their websites. If any hidden charges are found related to shipping or etc later on, then this is considered an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. You may try contacting the platform’s customer support team first. And if this does not help, then you can file a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline. I hope this answer helps you. For any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank You.
You are not obliged to pay the extra ₹899. Send a written request to the seller for a refund of your original payment. If they refuse, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Keep all receipts, QR codes, and chats as proof.
