Defamation is given under section 356 of the BNS ( section 499,500 of IPC) which talks about whoever by act of making or publishing tries to harm the reputation of the person is considered as defamation and there is a simple Imprisonment of 2 years in this case.

DEFAMATION LAW  is provided under section 499 and 500 IPC when any one inteionally defames you then you can file a case against that person who is defaming  you, if you are acqitted or your FIR is quashed you can file it immediately after that.
