Ex-girlfriend threatens suicide, will I be held responsible?

My mother, I, my ex-girlfriend, and her mother met. We clearly informed them that we do not want any further relationship. After that, my ex-girlfriend threatened to commit suicide. I pleaded with her and her mother to ensure she doesn't take such a step. If she commits suicide and writes a note blaming me, will I be held responsible? (I do not want to file a police complaint under IPC Sections 503/506 for criminal intimidation.)

If someone is threatening suicide, inform the police in writing to protect yourself legally. If a suicide occurs and you are blamed in a note, you may face a police inquiry. But if you did not provoke or instigate, you are not criminally liable. Avoid private meetings and maintain written records of conversations.
