Is forced resignation without PIP legal in private job?

My company asked me to resign, stating that I didn’t meet expectations. There is no written warning or Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). They’ve given me one week to return my laptop and said they will pay two months' notice salary. Is this legal, and can I demand a severance package?

If there's no written warning or PIP, the company must follow fair exit procedures. Accepting two months' salary is legal, but you can negotiate more severance, especially if the exit is sudden or without documentation. If unfair, you may file a complaint at the Labour Office or send a legal notice. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
