Is it legal to return hike and pay training fees?
My company owner made me sign a bond for one year when they gave me a salary hike. The bond states that if I leave the company in between, I have to return the hike that was paid to me and pay Rs. 2 lakh as training fees. The training was not done by any outside institute, but the company employee revised the technical topics which we were already aware of. Is this legal?
The bond requiring you to return the hike and pay training fees may not be legally enforceable if the training was not from an outside institution and the bond terms are unreasonable. You can consult a lawyer to review the bond and seek advice on whether it can be challenged in court. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
