Salary during maternity leave
I want to know that I am a government job employee and m 7 month pregnant now I am preparing to take paid maternity leave but my employee said that you will not get salary during this entire period of 6 month of maternity leave you will get your all salary after you join the organisation after completing your maternity leave. So I am confused that if they will not pay me for this entire period the. How I will take of my child and all my medical expenses
Dear Client, If you are on paid maternity leave, you would generally receive your salary during the leave period itself. Under Section 5 of the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, an eligible woman is entitled to maternity benefits during her maternity leave. Since you are a government employee, your entitlement may also be governed by the applicable service rules. Paid maternity leave is ordinarily not meant to be an unpaid period with the entire salary released only after rejoining. You may ask your employer to provide the specific service rule, government order, or policy that authorises withholding salary until your return to work. If no such rule exists, such an arrangement would be unusual. Do not hesitate to reach out to us for any further help. Thank you.
Hello mam,
As per the rules of maternity leave you are entitled to be paid for your leave if the company is not paying you the salary then you can approach to the labour court for justice.
thank you
