What evidence is staying in an unregistered PG without receipts legal?

I have been staying in a PG for the past 2-3 years, paying a monthly rent of ₹8500 online, along with the AC bill to the staff appointed here. The PG is not registered, and there is no bill or receipt for the payments. All transactions are done through the savings account of the person. Is this against the law, or is it permitted? If it’s against the law, what charges can be imposed? Because if I need to prove that I have been staying here for 2-3 years, how can I do so?

It is not against the law, but without proper receipts, it is difficult to prove payments. The landlord is required to provide receipts or agreements. You may gather evidence, such as bank statements, to prove payments. If this continues, consider asking the landlord to formalize the arrangement with proper receipts or agreements.
