How can I legally recover my money?
I lent money to a friend who is now refusing to repay it. The situation escalated when they resorted to intimidation tactics. In one meeting, he showed forged photographs with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, claiming his high ranking IAS friend facilitated the meeting. Later he shared the photographs with me on Whats App. I verified their authenticity and found the originals on the Internet. In a subsequent meeting, recorded for evidence, he openly boasted about his influence and his ability to use violence: 1. He narrated a story of using extortion by police through his connections to recover a debt from an individual. 2. He claimed to have caused the transfer of a PCS officer through his connections, which we later learnt was due to the officer's promotion. 3. Most alarmingly, he threatened physical harm to a friend of mine because of hostility. Is any of the above a criminal offense? What action can I take to protect myself and recover the owed amount?
Sir, you can file a police complaint against that person for Extortion, Criminal Intimidation and Forgery and apart from this you may file a civil suit for Money Recovery. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
