Will a compromised criminal case affect my UPSC selection?

In 2020, I was involved in a criminal case (341, 323, 506, 34 IPC), which was compromised in Lok Adalat. I also served 15 days of remand in jail. Now, I am preparing for UPSC. Will this case become a barrier if I am selected for UPSC?

Possibly, a compromised criminal case may impair your UPSC selection, but it varies with what the case is about and how it is viewed while verifying one's character. Your case-under IPC Sections 341, 323, 506, 34 stood compromised in Lok Adalat and isn't a conviction. Therefore, it would not be that automatic disqualification. The serving remand of 15 days may emerge as a concern during verification. So one must accurately disclose everything when required, as not doing so may result in rejection. The authorities will then give their final verdict after assessing the severity and circumstances surrounding the case.

Sir, a criminal case, even if compromised in Lok Adalat, can still impact your eligibility for the UPSC exam which may depend on the nature of the case and the final verdict. It is advised to consult an expert lawyer who will assist you with the best course of action. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
