Students were recently gathered at the ground floor of the Students’ Union Building (SUB) to elect their president. As is usual with such events, the place was bustling with activities. Tunde, one of the members, in an attempt to get to the front row, bumped into two students, Ade and Bryan. Ade’s bag fell down in the process. Bryan, Ade’s boyfriend, angered by this, raised his fist at Tunde and said, ‘‘I would have boxed your face but for the fact that today is a special day’’. Whereupon, Tunde aimed a blow at Bryan’s eyes, striking him in his left eye. The wound required eleven stitches and Bryan was hospitalised for five weeks as a result.
