Can I pay bill and deactivate SIM without legal issues?

My daughter-in-law committed fraud and cheated my family and some friends. She escaped, removed or destroyed her SIM card, and we have been unable to contact her for over three months (since November 2023). Recently, Airtel customer care contacted me about an outstanding bill for three months, and the SIM was issued in my name in 2021. I had forgotten about it as she was paying the bills. Can I pay the outstanding bill and deactivate the SIM, or will there be any legal issues? An FIR has been filed against her.

You can pay the outstanding bill and deactivate the SIM without facing any legal issues, as long as you have no further liabilities. Since an FIR is filed against your daughter-in-law, it is advisable to document your payment of the bill, so it does not come back as an issue in the case.
