Can locker be ignored in stridhan recovery without search?
My daughter was thrown out by her in-laws just 10 days after giving birth and returned to our house without her stridhan, which was kept in a bank locker. We filed a complaint under Section 498A, and Behala Women Police Station submitted a report to the court stating that nothing was found. The judge filed the charge sheet accordingly. However, the locker was never searched by the Investigating Officer (IO), and it has now been found that the last operation of the locker was done by my daughter’s husband. My question is: how can the authorities conclude that the ornaments are missing without even searching the locker? If any good lawyer can help my daughter retrieve her ornaments.
You can file an application in court to reopen the investigation and request the bank locker to be searched. Since the locker was last used by your daughter’s husband, this step is important. A women’s rights or criminal lawyer can help recover the stridhan and ensure proper police action. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
