Can admission fees be legally refunded after withdrawal?
Dear Sir/Madam, I applied for admission for my two siblings to a well-known school in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The school charged ₹20,000 as admission form fees, which I paid. However, the very next day, I admitted my siblings to a nearby school and requested a refund of the amount paid. The school has refused to refund the fees. What legal remedies are available to me in this situation? Regards
If the school collected ₹20,000 as form or admission processing fees, the refundability of the amount will depend on the school's written admission and refund policy. You should first obtain a copy of the fee receipt, admission form, and refund rules. If the school failed to clearly disclose that the fee was non-refundable or retained the amount unfairly without providing any service, you may send a legal notice and consider filing a complaint before the appropriate consumer forum for refund and compensation. Preserve all receipts, emails, and communications. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
