What legal action can I take if police altered my statement?

The police altered my statement. The case was about robbery and assault, but the police changed it to theft and assault. They didn’t recover the stolen money or gold chain. The accused is out on bail. The case dates back to July 2016, and I’ve been made a witness with the first date on 22.11.2023. During the 161 statement, I found that the government lawyer’s information weakens my case. What should I do?

You can file a complaint against the police for altering your statement at the local police station or magistrate court. You can also approach the State Human Rights Commission for misconduct.
